Using Gifts for Life, students can take on projects together and discover they can make a real difference by providing hope to those in need around the world.
Together, students in a classroom or an entire school can raise money to purchase goats for a family
clean water for a small village
or provide emergency supplies right after a disaster!
Here are some creative ideas you can use with your students to teach them about poverty and raise money to purchase gifts that will change lives worldwide.
- Hold a talent show at your school. Involve all grades and classes in planning and producing the show. Hold open auditions for performers such as singers, dancers, poets and musicians. The theme could be The World Where We Live. The money raised from the sale of tickets can be designated for children who live in poverty. Host a raffle at the show to raise additional funds.
- Organize a read-a-thon, dance-a-thon or walk-a-thon. Collect pledges from family friends for each mile or hour of your activity.
- Arrange an art show. Hold an art contest where you and your friends enter up to three pieces of art at $5 per entry. Ask your parents to buy tickets. Try to get friends, your school or a library to donate space for the show. You can also sell the work to raise more money.
- Instead of exchanging gifts, students can spend their money to help other children around the world with Gifts for Life.
- Organize a weekend car wash and use the proceeds to purchase Gifts for Life.
